28 years old Thomas Allowen made another appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba Road court No.6 in Freetown, on two counts charges to wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916 and Malicious Damage contrary to section 51 of the Malicious damage Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence, on a date between 1st to 30th August 2022 at the house of Parliament, Tower Hill the Western Area in Freetown, Stole one gold color Samsung galaxy S8+ mobile phone valued seven thousand Leones(7,000) property of Kadijatu Bangura.
On count two on the above date at the same place, the accused person maliciously damage the said Gold color Samsung galaxy S8+ mobile phone valued seven thousand Leones(7,000) Property of the said Kadijatu Bangura . The charges were read and explained to the accused person and he pleaded guilty
Inspector Musu Edna Kpulun, lead Prosecution witness number one, and police constable 17030 Mohamed Sheika Koroma attached to the exhibit office central police station, recalled on the 20th February 2023, when he were on duty at the said police station when Sub inspector Martin Conteh handed over to him one old Samsung mobile phone for registration and safe keeping.
He said he received the said exhibit and registered it in the court exhibit book against serial number 24/2023 since then it was in his custody until the said exhibit was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records.
The accused person was unrepresented by legal representative and he pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy
Due to the plea mitigation by the accused person, Magistrate Gogra sentenced the accused person to eight Months imprisonment at the Male Correctional Center in Freetown and ordered the exhibit to be returned to the exhibit clerk.
