A 28-year-old man, Sahr Lebbie, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown following his latest appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1.

Lebbie is facing four counts, including robbery with aggravation, wounding, and assault, contrary to Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916 and Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to police reports, on Friday, July 4th, 2025, at Temne Town, Allen Town, Lebbie allegedly robbed Ansu Sandi while armed with a knife. The stolen items include one roll of 2.5mm electrical cable, one roll of 1.5mm electrical cable and forty yards of 70/4 electric cable.

The total value of the items is estimated at Le6,000, said to be the property of Amara Coker, but under Sandi’s custody at the time of the incident.

On counts two, three, and four, it is alleged that Lebbie maliciously wounded and assaulted Sandi, intending to cause grievous bodily harm.

Testifying in court as the first prosecution witness (PW1), Ansu Sandi, an office assistant at the National Revenue Authority (NRA), confirmed that he recognized the accused. He recounted that on the morning of the incident, he heard strange noises coming from the uncompleted building where he resides. Upon investigation, he encountered Lebbie, who allegedly stabbed him several times, leaving him seriously injured.

Sandi told the court that he attempted to restrain Lebbie but was overwhelmed by pain. He called for help, and a neighbor, Foday, responded and took him to Connaught Hospital. Foday also took photographs of the injuries using his Infinix mobile phone. The photos were presented in court as Exhibit A, with the individual images marked Exhibits A1–A3.

After initial treatment, Sandi said he and Foday reported the incident to the Allen Town Police Station, where he was issued a medical form. He proceeded to Rokupa Hospital for further examination and returned the form to the police. The case was later transferred to the Ross Road Police Station for continued investigation.

During cross-examination, the accused, who is unrepresented, claimed that Sandi stabbed him first. He further alleged that the complainant called his brother to bring a rope to tie him up and throw him into a well. Sandi vehemently denied both claims, stating he was alone at home at the time.

Magistrate Jah ordered that the accused be remanded in custody and adjourned the matter to July 30, 2025, for further hearing. Prosecutor Kadie M. Taylor is representing the state in the matter.
