A total of 27 victims who lost their lives during the August 10th 2022 protests would be finally laid to rest today 17th October 2022.
After an agreement and understanding with the relatives of the victims, a funeral ceremony would be organised at the Connaught Hospital mortuary in the afternoon hours. Thereafter, a funeral procession would be held that leads to their internment at Waterloo in the outskirts of Freetown.
The relatives of each victim received a compensation amount of Le 20,000,000(million) from the government which was spearheaded by the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It should be noted that Hassan Bangura`s(Evangelist Samson) relatives rejected the Le 20 million compensation offer, as according to one of them they don’t have anything to do with the money and kindly requested the government to hand over the remains of their loved for a private funeral ceremony.
Panda Noah, the Minister of Internal Affairs expressed his sincere condolences to the bereaved families and urged them to keep the faith.
“We know it is difficult and painful for you but I believe that as time passes your hearts will be healed”, the minister lamented.
He assured the families that their loved ones would be accorded a befitting burial ceremony according to the religious faith of each falling Sierra Leonean.
“A Christian would be buried according to Christian dictates whiles a Muslim would also be buried according to Islamic law”, Mr Noah disclosed.
He reveals that the president is unhappy about the death of the 27 Sierra Leoneans because it is a huge loss to the country and some of them would have benefitted from the president`s human capital development agenda.
He concluded by admonishing people to be law abiding citizens and to desist from creating problems for the police and the entire security sector.
Madam Baindu Dassama, the minster of Social Welfare said the August 10th event could have been worst.
The minister made an appeal to social media users to desist from sending hate messages against the government and the president of the republic.
She noted that even if one dislikes president Bio, he must be respected because he is anointed by God to serve his people.
Madam Dassama warned people to refrain from using children to achieve political ends, as according to her all the children arrested by the police on that day have been reunited with their relatives.
The Minster concluded by consoling the relatives of the victims and advised them to place their hope and trust in God.
SIERRA LEONE SECURES HIGH SCORES IN INDUSTRY TRANSPARENCY INITIATIVE STANDARD

Sierra Leone has achieved an overall high score of 87.5% in implementing the 2019 Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI)Standard. The overall score reflects an average of the three components scores on stakeholder engagement, transparency, outcomes and impact.
The announcement was made by the EITI board Chairman Hon.Helen Clerk at the ongoing 54th EITI board meeting in Oslo, Norway.
The validation assessment found that Sierra Leone has exceeded three EITI requirements, fully met 16, mostly met 6 and partly met 1 requirement. Six EITI requirements are not applicable. Sierra Leone was also awarded two additional points on the effectiveness and sustainability indicators.
The report further notes that implementation has revitalized since the previous validation in 2018. This was attributed to a strong government commitment and leadership led by H.E President Bio in transforming natural resource governance.
Congratulations to the Honorable Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh (SLEITI) Champion, the Minister of State, Office of the Vice president and Chair of the SLEITI Multi-Stakeholder Group (Mrs Francess Piagie Alghali, the SLEITI Multi-Stakeholder Group and SLEITI Secretariat for this outstanding progress.

As a couple, we always remember the first time the other said “I love you”. It is true that these 3 little words often put us in all our states …
And yet, there are sentences even stronger, touching, and heavy with meaning than “I love you”. Here are 10.

Because meeting someone who loves us and who loves having a good time with us is good. But running into someone who stays by our side in bad times, and who is always ready to support us and back us up when the going gets tough, it’s rare.

When someone loves us to the point of agreeing to leave their apartment, their city, their family, their friends, their comforts and all their habits just for us, it is a declaration of love that is worth all the “I”. love you ”from the world, right?
