26yrs old Matthew Kallon made another appearance before magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker of pademba road court in Freetown on one count charge to wit office breaking and Larceny contrary to section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the charge sheet it was alleged that on the 25th May 2021 at parliament building Tower hill the western Area in Freetown entered into the deputy clerk’s office and  stole therein ten (10)  Cassettes valued seventy thousand Leones (70,000) two (2) computer Mics valued two hundred thousand Leones (200,000) one (1) computer charger valued three hundred thousand Leones (300,000) one (1) oxford English dictionary valued five hundred thousand Leones (500,000) and one computer mouse valued two hundred and fifty thousand Leones (250,000) all to the total value of two million three hundred and thirty thousand Leones (2,300,000) property of the house of parliament.

Prosecution witness number one Prince Dominic Jackson a civil servant attached at parliament police station said he recognized the accused person because of this matter on the 25th day when he was arrested.

On that day he was on duty when the accused met him at parliament check point together with Sergeant 7970 Bendu and DPC 1055 Hawa around 6pm in the evening they use to check all workers when coming out of the parliament on the search he saw the accused person from a distance hesitate to pass through the checkpoint. He continued that because they are on the search when the accused person approach he told him to empty his bag for him to search.

According to the witness whiles on the search he saw things that he was not satisfied with things like CDK Cassettes, award Plate, computer Mic, computer charger, USB Charger, and one big oxford dictionary he asked the accused person were he got them from and he told me he took it from the dust bin.

The witness said he called Sergeant 7970 Bendu the accused person called him and said he want to talk with him and he refused.

The witness said later the accused person told him that he took them from one office and Sergeant came out with hand cuff and they went to central police station and statement was obtained from him and his witness.

Magistrate Sellu sent the accused person back to the male correctional centre in Freetown the accused person was unrepresented

Inspector Marie Sesay is Prosecuting the matter which is adjourned to the 19th July 2021.
