Glasgow 2026 has officially confirmed the nations set to compete in the 3×3 Basketball competition at this summer’s Commonwealth Games, marking a major milestone for a sport that made its Commonwealth debut just four years ago at Birmingham 2022.

3×3 Basketball is a fast-paced, half-court version of the traditional game. With its urban roots and festival-like atmosphere, it has quickly become one of the most exciting and accessible formats of basketball worldwide.

The competition will take place at the SEC Centre from 24 to 29 July, and thousands of fans have already secured tickets for the high-octane event. Compared to Birmingham 2022, the Glasgow edition features an increase in participating teams and three additional sessions, reflecting the sport’s growing popularity. Ticket prices start from £17 for non-medal sessions and £26 for medal sessions.

3×3 Basketball is played by two teams of three players on a single hoop, using a 12-second shot clock to keep the action fast and continuous. Games last 10 minutes or conclude earlier if a team reaches 21 points, creating a high-energy, quickfire format that emphasizes speed, skill, and agility.

Following strong fan reception in Birmingham 2022, the Glasgow 2026 3×3 Basketball programme has expanded from eight teams per gender to 12 per gender, demonstrating the sport’s rapid growth and rising global appeal.

In total, 24 nations12 per gender will compete in what promises to be the largest and most thrilling 3×3 Basketball competition in Commonwealth Games history.
