Sulaiman Foray, Amadu Nabie Yaya, Nabie Turay and Joseph Ivan Koroma made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on two counts charges to wit Conspiracy to wit Larceny contrary to law and Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the charge sheet on the 14th July 2021 at No. 1 Fonima Road Goderich the western area in Freetown conspired together and with other persons unknown and stole one Toyota FJ Cruiser Jeep with registration number ARH 222 valued two hundred million Leones from Florence Bockarie and on the same date the same place the first accused person stole the said vehicle from the said complainant.

First Prosecution witness, Florence Bockarie a retired teacher said she knew the first accused as her driver and he has been her driver for a month and furthered that the second, third and fourth accused persons are unknown to her.

she recalled on the 14th July 2021, the witness said on that day she was at home in her sitting room when the first accused person came and informed her about the vehicle that it has a breakdown an  F.J Cruiser with registration number ARH 222 and he took it to the mechanic.

The witness said he brought the car two hundred million Leones and on that very day when he took it to the mechanic she told one of her boys at home to collect the key from him and let him took the car at Aberdeen road.

Upon that she received information from the mechanic, the witness said she called the first accused straight of upon receiving the information given to her but the accused didn’t pick up and she called the driver of her sister and he told me that the accused person has gone with her car.

The Mechanic asks her to hold on and she gave the accused person time and the accused person did not respond and she went to Criminal Investigations Department (CID) where she made statements.

 She send someone at Hasting Toll gate and Masiaka Toll gate and they told her that the vehicle has passed Hastings and Masiaka and they give her photo of the vehicle and it registration number and she was about tendering it but counsel representing the accused persons Gbessay Sesay objected saying there was no indication of the said place.

The witness responded and said it`s their case so it is relevant and it was later tendered in court the witness said on the 15th July 2021 she went to NATCOM for the call log of the first accused person.

“I saw so many calls I took the first person`s contact which was saved as Kambia and I called my Nephew Moses Sesay at Kambia and my nephew later gave me information. I called at Kambia and the police officer gave me information that the third accused has been arrested and he was brought to CID and the third accused told me that the vehicle has been stolen so what’s the matter”, the witness narrated.

Counsel representing the fourth accused person M Karim applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused persons, he made his application pursuant to section 79 sub section 2 of the criminal procedure Act 1965.

Magistrate Keikura granted the fourth accused person bail in the sum of two hundred million Leones with one surety in like sum, surety must be responsible and should produce identity card depicting his or her address in Freetown to be approved by the DAR.

ASP Aminata Daboh is prosecuting the matter which is adjourned to the 6th September 2021
