The matter between the inspector General of Police and twenty-two years old Mohamed Tejan Kanteh, has been Committed to High Court for proper trial.
The accused Mohamed Tejan Kanteh was arraigned before the court after police investigated him for murdering Victor Kargbo.
Delivering his ruling after the prosecution closed its case, Magistrate Sahr Kekura, said the accused was arraigned on a count charge of murder.
He added that the charge was read and explained to the accused person but was refused to take plea because the matter was preliminary investigation.
Giving brief fact about the said matter, Magistrate Sahr Kekura said on the police file number C/S 1210 of murder, the accused was alleged that on Wednesday 27th April, 2022, murder Victor Kargbo. Magistrate Sahr Kekura said the prosecutor in abide to prove its case called three witnesses including the formal witness.
He said it was his duty to look into the evidence and know whether it should be committed to the high court.
The learned magistrate said looking at the evidence before him, together with the confessional statement made by the accused during investigation, he said he is certain that the prosecution has adduced sufficient proof to commit the accused to the High Court.
Touching on the case file, Magistrate Sahr Kekura said the accused in his statement to the police confessed that he killed the deceased after they embarked on a fight. He narrated how he took a broken bottles to kill the deceased before people came to separate them.
Putting him on his guide as to how he would want to do his case at the High Court, the accused said he Would open his defense at the High Court and explained what transpired between him and the deceased.
The matter was committed to High Court for proper trials.
The death certificate indicated that the deceased died of hemorrhagic shock and blasting of Sharpe objects on the neck.
