Aiah Bayoh, a 22-year-old footballer, made his initial appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown, facing two charges of Robbery with Aggravation as per Section 23 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916, repealed and replaced by Section 2 of Act No.16 of 1971.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Thursday, 21st December 2023, at School Yard in Murray Town, Western Area, Freetown. Armed with a knife, Bayoh allegedly robbed Festus Sannoh of items totaling thirteen thousand and seventy Leones (13,070), including an iPhone Pro Max valued at twelve thousand Leones (12,000), a Gucci cross bag valued at three hundred and seventy Leones (370), and a locker with a key valued at seven hundred Leones (700). Furthermore, it is alleged that Bayoh used personal violence against Festus Sannoh during or immediately after the robbery.

On the same date and location, Bayoh is accused of using a knife to rob Isha King, taking items valued at eleven thousand two hundred and fifty Leones (11,250). These items include an Oppo mobile phone valued at eleven thousand Leones (11,000) and a lady’s cross bag valued at two hundred and fifty Leones (250). Personal violence was allegedly used against Isha King in connection with this robbery.

During the court proceedings, no plea was taken as the charges were read and explained to the accused person. The prosecutor, Inspector Kadie M Taylor, requested a short adjournment to confer with her witness. Despite the prosecutor’s request, Magistrate Kekura denied bail and remanded the accused person to the male facility in Freetown. The case is adjourned to the 10th January 2024 for further hearing.
