20 years old Umu Sannoh arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Keikura on one count charge of Larceny by Servant Contrary to section 17 (1(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge sheet on the 28th January 2021 at BRAC Office, Leicester road Freetown being a cleaner or servant employed by BRAC Micro Finance stole ten (10) Rubber Chairs valued (85,000) all to the total cost of Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones(Le 850,000,00) seven (7) Veronica bucket valued(70,000) all to the total cost Four Hundred and Ninety Thousand Leones(490,000,00) three(3) wooden benches valued(100) all to the total cost of Three Hundred Thousand Leones(300,000,00) two(2) staple machines each valued(15,000) all to the total cost of Thirty Thousand Leones(30,000,00) two(2) hand sanitizer valued(35,000) all to the total cost of Seventy Thousand Leones(70,000,00) all to the total valued of one Million Seven Hundred and Forty Thousand Leones(1,740,000,00) belonging to BRAC Micro Finance.
According to the Branch Manager for BRAC Micro Finance Hill Station Branch, Valerie Koroma “I recognize the accused as our former office cleaner…”
The witness also testified and recalled on the 28th January, 2021 when one of her staff gave her information about the missing items mentioned in the charge sheet.
She then called on the accused in the presence of the staffs and put the allegation to her. The accused denied all the allegations, according to the witness. The witness told the accused person that the camera in the office caught her stealing the above items. She then admitted to the allegations.
The witness said the accused could not identify the individual she sold the stolen properties to; therefore she was taken to the Akon Police Station where statements were obtained.
Inspector T. Macfoy is prosecuting the matter that has been adjourned to the 24th march, 2021.
