2 Accused Sentenced 2 Years Imprisonment For Theft

35yrs old Ibrahim Jah, a building contractor, and Paul Alie Keilui a Student, both   made their first appearances before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, on Thursday the 12th January 2023 at Sugar loaf Regent Village, the Mountain Rural District in the western Area of Freetown, conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a crime.

On count two at the same place and date, the accused persons allegedly stole ten bathroom tiles, thirty cartoons step tiles, six cartoons floors tiles, five cartoons wall tiles and one hundred 2×2 leaves board all to the total value of twenty thousand two hundred and fifty Leones (20,250,00) Property of Isatu Sapateh.

The charges were read and explained to the accused person and they pleaded guilty.  The prosecutor Sergeant 1462 Amiza John, told the bench that fact as charge and there are no available records against the accused persons.

Counsel representing the accused persons M.Y Kallon, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy that the accused persons are first time offenders adding that, they did not waste the precious time of the court.

Magistrate Gogra due to the plea mitigation by the Defense Counsel, he sentenced the accused persons to twenty four months imprisonment each to the male correctional center in Freetown.
