The Minister of Information and Civic Education Chernoh Bah has on Tuesday 24th October 2023 at the weekly Government press briefings informed that Her Excellency Madam Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone would be hosting the first celebration of “World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence” in November 18.

 The Information and Civic Education Minister revealed that the office of the First Lady Madam Fatima Maada Bio championed the cause for the United Nations to declare November 18 as an international day in order to recognize, respect and to ensure healing to take place on victims of child sexual abuse and violence.

Speaking to members of the fourth estate at the press briefing the Information Minister affirmed that the international community had agreed that the first major celebration of that day would take place in Sierra Leone.

As the celebration would be hosted by Her Excellency Madam Fatima Bio, the Information Minister expressed that first ladies across the continent including the First Lady of Nigeria, Angola and from other countries would be coming to Serra Leone to grace what he described as a big international celebration day.

As it marks a great achievement, being the first country to celebrate the first celebration of “World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence” in November 18 Minister Bah expressed that the people of Sierra Leone should be very proud and happy about that.

In another updates, the Information and Civic Education Minister intimated that the Sierra Leone Minister of Finance took part at the International Monetary Fund IMF annual meeting program on Tuesday 17 October 2023.

He expressed that it was part of the effort to champion Sierra Leone and seek the right kinds of investment for the people of Sierra Leone.
