18yrs old Alhaji Mahmoud Marrah appeared before magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court in Freetown on one counts charge to wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
It was alleged that on the 7th may 2021 at Zoodlabs site at Leicester peak the mountain rural district in the Western Area in Freetown did steal 300 three hundred liters diesel each litre valued eight thousand five hundred Leones Le 8,500 all to the total value of two million five hundred and fifty thousand Leones (2,550,000,000) property of protect security Agency.
The first prosecution witness (PW1) Mohamed Keita Sow work as the patrol manager protect security Agency, said he recognized the accused as work guards in the Agency and he recalled on the 7th may 2021.
The witness said on the said day at around 1:28am in the morning hours during his patrol received a call from one of their location at Leicester peak from the supervisor to inform him that the accused person has stolen fuel from a petrol tank.
Informing the court, the witness said he was at borbor village on patrol; when he received the call he went to the scene of crime and called out one of guard name Alhaji who narrated to him that he saw the accused person in the generator room allegedly stealing from the tank and him (accused) that he was not authorized to go there.
Alhaji said the accused told him that he had three months old baby and there is no food at home. With the witness said he asked other guards to arrest the accused and was taken to the head quarter to inform the management about the crime and the accused person has committed. He was later taken to hill top police station where he made statements.
Sergeant 1462 Amiza John prosecuting the matter has been adjourned to 26th May 2021.
