Twelve teams are putting in the hard yards to participate in the 2025 Sierra Leone Men’s T20 Cricket Division 1 League scheduled for late March this year.

The tournament, lasting for sixty-eight days, will feature five new clubs as follows: Golden Eagles, Vikings, Dun Dee, Haryana Tigers, and Vintage.

The opener will see China Town taking on old guys Crusaders before Vikings face Vintage on March 22, 2025, at the Kingtom Police Oval.

Last season, Wanderers won the League to book a convenient place in the country’s men’s topflight league, whose 2025 edition crowned Mid-West as retained back-to-back champions.

The Male Division 1 League will be going on simultaneously along with the female variant, which will feature six teams, among which are newcomers Vikings, Don Dee, and Vintage.

The Women’s T20 Cricket Division 1 League will commence on April 5, 2025, at the Prince of Wales Cricket Oval, pitching  China Town against Dun Dee.

Last season, Newton, Crusaders, and Copper Safe were promoted to the Sierra Leone Women’s Cricket Premier League to boost competitiveness and to enliven female cricket.

The conduct of national leagues backed by enviable cross-border performances continues to attract young people to the game of cricket. Women and girls from communities beyond the traditional home of cricket are leading the race.
