12 Months Jail Slammed On Convict For House Breaking & Larceny

Justice Monfred Sesay of the High Court of Sierra Leone has sent Karim Kommeh now convict to twelve months  jail with consideration of time spent on Tuesday 14th November 2023.

The statement of offence pointed at house breaking and larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

His particulars of offence spelt that on 14th December 2022 at Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Karim Kommeh broke and entered into the dwelling house of Abdul Aziz Koroma and stole therein six pairs jean trousers valued one hundred and fifty New Leones (NLe 150,00), eight pairs assorted foot wear valued six hundred New Leones (NLe 600,00), one Adidas valued one thousand seven hundred and sixty New Leones (NLe 1,760), two pairs Jordan foot wear valued six hundred New Leones (NLe 600), one Van valued two hundred and fifty New Leones (NLe 250,00), one Rebuck valued two hundred New Leones (NLe 200,00), one All Star valued one hundred New Leones (NLe 100,00), one Gold Wrist Watch valued one thousand New Leones (NLe 1,000.00), one Black Sport Watch valued two hundred and fifty New Leones (NLe 250,00), one Samsung J7 Android Mobile Phone valued three thousand New Leones (NLe 3,000.00), one LG Android Mobile Phone valued two thousand two hundred New Leones (NLe 2,200.00), one White Samsung Note Android Mobile Phone valued one thousand two hundred New Leones (NLe 1,200.00), one iPhone 7 Plus valued two thousand seven hundred New Leones (NLe 2,700.00), one Black Backpack containing two Sierra Leonean Passports valued one thousand five hundred New Leones (NLe 1,500.00), and the sum of two thousand New Leones (NLe 2,000.00) all to the total value of eighteen thousand one hundred and ten New Leones (NLe 18,110.00) property of Abdul Aziz Koroma, the complainant.

Karim Kommeh pleaded for mercy; noting that he would not think of doing such act. He promised that no sooner he is dischargd, he would return to the skill job he has acquired overtime.

Defence Counsel Randy Salieu Bangura pleaded for mercy on behalf of the accused person, now convict for Justice Monfred Sesay to temper justice with mercy as he has a future ahead of him.

He suggested for a year sentence; adding that long custodian sentence would hinder his future as a young man.

State Counsels Aruna Jalloh and Elizabeth Titi Jalloh countered the statement of the Defence Counsel, and for a longer sentence.

After the accused person being found guilty on the count charge and verdict being made, Justice Monfred Sesay levied twelve 12 months jail on Karim Kommeh with consideration of year served.
