12 man Jurors to Seat on Murder Trial

The accused person, Abdul Mimi Kargbo has appeared before Hon. Justice Reginald Fynn on the 8th October, 2021 for a one count charge of murder.

The accused person on the 26th March, 2020 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone murdered Alpha Martin. The court registrar read the charge to the accused person and he pleaded not guilty.

 Before the commencement of the case, a twelve man jurors were selected in court and put on oath; the accused people did not object to any of the selected jurors.

However, the juror was asked to choose the foreman and Alhaji Ibrahim Gbanie was chosen as the foreman in this murder matter.

Addressing the Jurors and the court, Justice Fynn said they have a duty to the state for speedy trials and to Judge fairly. He cautioned the jurors that he doesn’t have any room for someone who is not time conscious rather they should all be in time for every session of the proceedings. 

The State Counsel V.E.A. Kabia said she will address the judge on the next setting. V.E.A. Kabia and D. Sawyer appears for the State while Cecelia Tucker for the accused person from Legal Aid. The matter has been adjourned to the 15th October.
