10m bail for alleged Wounding

Teh Mathews and Amie Marie Kamara made their first appearance before magistrate Loyle Jusu of Pademba road court in Freetown on three counts charges to wit wounding contrary to section 20 of the offence against the person Act 1861, Assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offence against the person Act 1861.

It was alleged on the charge sheet that on the 11th April 2021 along Settera Kroo Street the Western Area in Freetown wounded George Brown with intent to do him grievous bodily harm and assaulted him in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

PW1 George Brown a petty trader in his testimony, said he recognize the accused persons as his neighbor and recalled on the 11th April 202. In the afternoon of that fateful day, the witness said he was in discussion with some community friends when the accused Teh Matthew approach him and instructed him to move away from his usual seat. The witness said he told the accused person that the community belongs to the Kroo people, and so he will not go anywhere. The accused insisted and told the witness that he will call the police to join in the issue and to remove him from his place. Later, the witness said he saw the accused coming closer to him with one huge man and pointed his finger at him and said “na di borbor dis.”

Magistrate Jusu adjourned the matter for the prosecution to have proper conference with his witness.

And granted both accused persons bail in the sum of ten million Leones each or one surety in like sum sureties should produce his or her identity card to be approved by the DAR

Sergeant Phillips prosecuting the matter adjourned to the 30th June 202.
