10-Man Wilberforce Strikers Hold Abacha City FC to 1-1 Draw

Wilberforce Strikers and Abacha City FC played out a dramatic 1-1 draw at the SLFA Academy on Tuesday. Randy M. George put the home side ahead in the 29th minute, finishing from close range after a well-delivered assist by Mohamed Tarawally. The talisman takes his tally to (9) goals sitting one goal behind league top scorer, James Jusu Kanja of Old Edwardians FC who had recorded (10) goals.

The lead didn’t last long, as Abacha City FC equalized in first-half stoppage time through Kerifa Koroma, assisted by Harold Turay, after Momoh Kamara’s red card reduced Wilberforce Strikers to 10 men.

The second half was marked by tension and controversy. Abacha City FC pushed hard for a winner, but Wilberforce Strikers’ resilience paid off. Multiple bookings and send-offs added to the drama, including Wilberforce Strikers’ Head Coach Gibrila WooBay, Goalkeeper Coach Ibrahim Souri Mansaray, and other club officials.

Despite being outnumbered and outmanned, Wilberforce Strikers held on for a point. Randy M. George was voted man of the match for his outstanding performance. The result sees Wilberforce Strikers pick up a point, while Abacha City FC will be disappointed to have dropped two points at home.

Luawa FC recorded their first ever double win in the 2025/26 season after beating Wusum Stars 2-1 in Makeni over the weekend, they continued their fine run by securing a vital 1-0 win against SLIFA FC on Wednesday March 25 at the Approved School Playing Field.

Joe Bestman’s 37th-minute header from Prince Rogers’ free-kick was enough to secure the win for the Cacao Boys. SLIFA FC had chances to equalize, but Luawa FC’s defense held firm, with goalkeeper Gibrilla Conteh making crucial saves.

SLIFA FC pushed hard in the second half but couldn’t breach Luawa FC’s solid defense. The win is a much-needed boost for Luawa FC, who remain in the relegation zone. SLIFA FC, on the other hand, continues to struggle near the bottom of the table.

Both teams will need a turnaround in form to avoid relegation as the Leone Rock Premier season intensifies. Luawa FC’s next match was against Bai Bureh Warriors FC, while SLIFA FC face Wilberforce Strikers FC.
