The principal of the Providence International High School, REV. Alpheus Koroma confirmed to this medium that one of his staff named Mr. Johnson was allegedly murdered by one sss3 pupil of his school on Saturday 11 March, 2023.
Rev Koroma refuted the claim that the boy was given any expulsion or suspension letter prior to the gruesome attack on the teacher and they never conducted a PTA meeting to inform parents and guardians that there are hideout in the school complex where pupils smoke and party.
He furthered that the only meeting they held on the 9th March 2023 was in relation to absenteeism.
He added that the student in question is known for being a little argumentative and self-protective.
“We are saddened and we are not in support of his action, we condemn it out rightly as a barbaric, savage and a gruesome attack on his teacher,” he added.
He reiterated that there track records over the years shows that they have put all mechanism in place to ensure that they provide a safe and convenient learning environment for their pupils.
Rev Koroma furthered that they have a routine orientation period for their new pupils about the “dos and don’ts” of their reputable institution.
To even attack your colleague is prohibited according to the Providence handbook.
“The pupils have a lot of lesson to learn about this boy`s mistake, violence can’t take you nowhere unless landing you into trouble,” he said.
He reiterated that on Monday 15th March 2023 he advised the pupils to stay away from trouble and referenced the 11 years civil war of Sierra Leone which resulted to a great loss of lives, amputees and destruction of properties so there is no positive effect of being violent.
Pupils should learn to report to the school authorities for appropriate action to be taken rather than to take the law into their hands.
He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Johnson family as well as the providence family and he prayed that his departed soul will rest in perfect peace.
